British Oak Logs
Britain is famous for its oak trees and woodland. We have a higher percentage of our land covered with woodland than any other European country. British foresters invented the silvicultural techniques that the French still use to such great effect. It is vital that British Oak crops are harvested and used to ensure that more crops are planted and managed for future generations to use. Our Oak woodland crops provide valuable habitats, wildlife has no preference for saw-logs or firewood trees, growing saw-logs generates the income to keep our forests healthy.
Oak loves growing in Britain, cool wet summers, mild wet winters and fertile soils. Happy oak trees grow fast, with dense durable timber. Oak grown on the British clay and loam soils is more than a match for any continental grown trees, but with the major advantage of having fewer timber miles. No timber is improved for having travelled thousands of miles before being made into something.
At Timberpride we love trees and forests, we started out in business planting and managing woodland. Knowing where your oak grew gives us enormous satisfaction.
