Oak Joinery

Supporting Your Investment with Precision & Tradition

Here at Timberpride we swear by the integrity of oak and it's ability to last many lifetimes. Every inch of your oak structure has been hand-crafted by our specialist joiners, with no shortcuts taken and no inch of wood left unchecked for any compromising irregularities.

Everything we do here at Timberpride is to the highest standard and made with a human touch. We offer a wide range of joinery from windows, doors, staircases, trusses and much more.

Layered & Laminated

Laminating oak is a meticulous process that involves bonding multiple layers of oak veneer to create strong, durable, and visually appealing structures.

By maximising the use of thinner oak veneers, we are able to be extremely efficient with the raw material that we use, therefore reducing waste and enhancing the overall eco-friendliness. The durability and longevity of laminated oak further contribute to its sustainability, as products crafted through this technique tend to have an extended lifespan.

Laminated oak can be shaped into curves, bends or intricate patterns, expanding the design possibilities for both structural and aesthetic choices.

Oak Outclasses Any Alternative

Oak stands as the superior choice for crafting joinery, outshining alternatives such as accoya due to it's unmatched durability and natural character.

Unlike materials that may lack the organic charm of real wood, oak brings a touch of authenticity and character that enhances the visual allure of any door, window or structure.

Its ability to age gracefully, developing a patina that tells the story of time, sets oak apart as a material that not only exudes ambience, but also serves a functional purpose.

Everything is bespoke

All our oak joinery is bespoke and make to order at our workshop in Tetbury. A Timberpride oak frame can last for many hundreds of years and will always be made of genuinely sustainable British oak. We can even tell you where the tree was grown!

Joinery Crafted Piece by Piece

Every project is made to order by our team of skilled carpenters, setting out British Oak beams on trestles in our Cotswold workshop. We measure, draw and scribe each joint before cutting and shaping the mortice and tenons by hand. Each carpenter will work exclusively on your oak joinery pieces and will carve his initials in a secret place where they will not be found for hundreds of years.

Our Portfolio of Joinery Services

We are proud to promote that we hand make all of our oak structures in our own Tetbury workshop, where our skilled carpenters can work with this natural, quirky, majestic raw material harnessing its greatest strengths and beauty.

If you want to look up to a vaulted room in your home and feel that tingle of awe everyday we ought to talk about oak roof trusses.

Timberpride Oak Framed Extensions

We glaze our Oak frames using air-dried English oak cover boards to clamp glass in place, forming a weathertight seal by compressing closed cell memory foam between the oak and the glass.

Oak framed extensions are the environmental choice for creating an additional living space in your home. The finished result is beautiful and will last for hundreds of years.

Why Choose Oak for your Joinery?

Oak is a hardwood with inherent robustness, making it an ideal choice for crafting durable and long-lasting pieces that won't require frequent maintenance or replacements.

Opting for oak is opting for the planet. Other materials are often sourced from fast-growing wood, whereas oak can be harvested sustainably from responsibly managed forests.

The natural, eco-friendly properties of oak make it a preferred choice for those seeking joinery materials that not only excel in performance but also adhere to a more sustainable approach to woodworking.

Seamless Fit & Consistent Craftsmanship

Opting for the same team that builds your outbuilding to handle your oak joinery ensures seamless collaboration and maximises efficiency throughout the entire project.

The familiarity among teams streamlines workflow, minimises miscommunication and allows for a more cohesive construction process. This also reduces delays and disruptions that can occur when coordinating with third-party joiners, resulting in a faster completion timeframe.

With the same skilled individuals overseeing both the structural and joinery components, there’s a natural synergy that fosters a smoother, more time-effective construction journey.

Sustainable Oak Construction

We believe it is our responsibility to make maximum use of every magnificent oak tree that we bring into our yard. Harvesting a tree that was planted by our great-great grandparents’ generation which has now reached maturity is an honour.

Each saw log is selected for the job, considering length, girth, knots and efficiency. Not only do we produce beams, we take boards form the outside which, grade dependent, are used for cladding, joinery or flooring thereby maximising the yield from what might be a 120 year old tree.

We are proud that nothing is wasted. Only the bark and slabbing boards, pieces too small or rotten knot pockets which can’t be used are chipped to fire our biomass boiler, heating the workshop, office and kiln.

Crafted with Precision by Specialists who Care

When working with oak, you generally find it tends to do what it wants and there’s not much about stopping it. However, with experience we can see how a beam is going to behave and work with it’s strengths, not forcing it, in denial of its nature. When you work with oak the results can be amazing, but you must accept it for what it is.

We make all structures in our Tetbury workshop using only British oak, which is then precisely milled and graded to D30 and D40 in house. Whatever your plans are, we will produce scale drawings to ensure everything is dimensionally perfect.
